Boston Based Restaurant Tasty Burger Becomes Certified Humane®

Boston Based Restaurant Tasty Burger Becomes Certified Humane®
(Herndon, VA, January 3, 2013) – Humane Farm Animal Care® (HFAC), the
leading non-profit certification organization improving the lives of farm animals in
food production, announced today that Tasty Burger, a Boston, MA based
restaurant with 3 locations, has become Certified Humane® for their natural beef

The restaurant was started by four partners, Phil Audino, Maureen “Mo”
McLaughlin, Brian Reyelt, and David Dubois, who had been in the restaurant
business for decades, mostly as chefs. Their concept was a restaurant that
contrasted with the national burger chains and provided high quality ingredients,
reasonable prices, and a connection with the community. Thus, Tasty Burger
was born: a modern version of the 1950’s burger joint, with fresh, high quality
American fare in an eclectic and unique atmosphere.

Tasty Burger switched to Certified Humane® beef burgers after the partners took
a trip to Kansas to find out where their beef was coming from. “After that
experience, we knew we need to find an alternative, and Certified Humane® was
the natural choice,” said David Dubois. “Becoming a Certified Humane®
restaurant helps us to support the farmers that are doing the right thing, and
helps us achieve our goal of caring about our food supply and our patrons.”

HFAC’s Certified Humane® designation assures consumers that meat, poultry,
egg, or dairy products they purchase have been produced according to HFAC’s
precise standards for humane farm animal treatment. Supported by more than 44
humane organizations, the Certified Humane Raised and Handled® program is
nationally recognized as the Gold Standard for certifying animal welfare from
birth through slaughter. Since the program was unveiled in May 2003, more than
93 companies, representing thousands of farms and millions of farm animals,
have been certified.

HFAC’s Animal Care Standards were developed by a veritable “Who’s Who” of
national and international animal scientists and farm-animal welfare experts.
Producer compliance with the HFAC standards is verified through annual on-site
visits by HFAC’s third-party inspectors.

Tasty Burger now has three locations, all serving Certified Humane® beef
burgers: Fenway, Southie, and a brand new location in Cambridge. For more
