Milagro Ranch earns humane certification
By Lisa M. Keefe on 7/28/2010

The Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) organization has certified Milagro Ranch in Carbondale, Colo., as a producer of “Certified Humane Raised and Handled®” beef, the group said in a news release this week.

Milagro Ranch produces beef that is “raised and finished entirely on pasture,” the release says. The beef is served at “top-tier” restaurants in the Aspen and Carbondale area. The products also are available online, from HFAC’s website.

HFAC’s Certified Humane® designation assures consumers that meat, poultry, egg or dairy products they purchase have been produced according to HFAC’s standards for humane farm animal treatment. Animals must receive a nutritious diet without antibiotics or hormones and must be raised with shelter, resting areas and space sufficient to support natural behavior. Compliance is certified by third-party inspectors, the group says
