Will you help Chickens, Pigs and Cows?
It’s not every day that we ask you to take action on something, but if you’re a Wegmans grocery shopper, then we need you to deliver the “Product Request” letter to your Wegman’s store.
Wegmans is choosing organic products over Certified Humane® Raised and Handled products because that is what they think their customers want in the stores.
While organic products and Certified Humane® products share a common goal of preventing the use of hormones in animals and animal by-products in feed, Certified Humane® standards go above and beyond by also ensuring the humane treatment of farm animals at every stage of their life.
As you know, the Certified Humane® label was created by the world’s top farm animal experts, providing the highest standards of animal welfare care in the industry. No label on the market provides more assurances for consumers who care about the welfare of farm animals than the Certified Humane® Raised and Handled label.
So if you’re a Wegmans shopper, please print, sign and take this letter to your local Wegmans store manager, urging them to sell more Certified Humane® beef, pork, poultry, turkey, dairy and egg products in your stores. Please share this letter with your family and friends and ask them to print off the “Product Request” letter for them to sign and take to their Wegman’s store.
Believe it or not, even in this era of social media, the best way to influence grocers to carry certain products is by showing you are an actual shopper in their store. Wegmans listens to the demands of their customers.
Also, don’t hesitate to keep asking Wegmans to carry more Certified Humane® products until you see those products carried in your store. They need to be assured that there are customers who will buy these products.
The best way to make a difference for farm animals is to demand our food come from Certified Humane® Raised and Handled animals. Thanks for your helping us turn the tide.Sincerely,
With gratitude,

Adele Douglass
Executive Director
P.S. The more supermarkets hear from their customers, the more likely they will ask their suppliers to become Certified Humane®. When they ask their suppliers to become Certified Humane® the farmers must change their practices to meet the standards. That is how you, the consumer, can have a direct effect on how farm animals are raised. It is because of consumers like you, who care, that we were able to make a difference in the lives of 96.7 million farm animals last year. With your help, we can do even better than that in 2015. Thanks for your help.
