Citizen Times: Earth Fare Features Free-Range Chickens

Alison’s Family Farms is about 35 miles southeast of Charlotte in Marshville. Alison’s chickens are raised on an all-vegetable diet feed, without growth hormones or antibiotics. They are also free-range birds — allowed to roam outside in the fresh air — and “Certified Humane Raised and Handled” by the Humane Farm Animal Care Program.

“Our commitment to providing local products meets the customers’ desire for freshness and quality. It also lets them know exactly where their food came from, and many times, who the farmer was that tended the crops or the animals,” said Troy DeGroff, director of sales and marketing at Earth Fare.
