Chef Jamie Oliver recommended the Certified Humane® program to Sobeys after his team visited many farms and ranches on the Certified Humane® program in the US and Canada, including duBreton, which has been Certified Humane® for over ten years, and Aspen Ridge Natural Beef, which has been Certified Humane® for two years.

Humane Farm Animal Care® (HFAC), the leading non-profit certification organization improving the lives of farm animals in food production, announced today that four of their Certified Humane® producers have been chosen as the only meat suppliers to Sobeys “Better Food For All” program.

Products certified by Humane Farm Animal Care under the Certified Humane® program are now available for purchase in all 50 states, with the addition of Alaska. Certified Humane® products are available for sale in nine out of the top 10 grocery retailers, in over 10,000 locations nationwide, and can also be found in Canada and online, according to the organization.

Certified Humane Raised & Handled® standards include that the animals are: fed a nutritious diet without antibiotics or hormones; raised with shelter, resting areas, sufficient space; and provided an environment that allows them the ability to engage in natural behaviors.

Redwood Hill Farm has actually been Certified Humane® since 2005, but have now made sure that all of the dairy farms that supply to them are too. This is an awesome achievement!

Redwood Hill Farm updated the packaging of their goat milk yogurt, kefir, French-style cheeses, Fresh Chevre and raw milk feta to prominently feature the Certified Humane® logo. Certified Humane Raised & Handled® standards include that the animals are fed a nutritious diet without antibiotics or hormones; raised with shelter, resting areas and sufficient space; and provided an environment that allows them the ability to engage in natural behaviors—conditions that Redwood Hill Farm and its contributing dairies have met independently for years.

Live Nation announced July 24 that all produce served at its 38 amphitheaters around the country will be sourced from within about a 100-mile radius of each venue. Additionally, all meats — some 285,000 burgers, 260,000 hot dogs and 280,000 chicken tender meals per year — will carry either Certified Humane®, Global Animal Partnership or Animal Welfare Approved certification. In the Chicago area, Live Nation operates First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park and FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island.
