This humane animal care chart answers many of the questions about how the Certified Humane® program is different from other animal welfare certifications for chickens, pigs and beef cattle.

The chart is a side-by-side comparison of the Certified Humane® program, three other animal welfare labeling programs (Animal Welfare Approved, Global Animal Partnership and American Humane Certified), and the USDA certified organic program. In addition to the existing categories comparison — traceability, growth hormones, antibiotics, pasture, stocking density, sleep, transportation and slaughter, a “Feed Prohibitions” category has been added on page 2 of the chart. What an animal eats is a critical part of its overall well-being, and this new category shows what types of feed ingredients are prohibited on each program.
