S. Wallace Edwards & Sons earned a Good Food Award earlier this month in San Francisco for its Surry Farms Surryano Ham. The awards, handed out by the Seedlings Project, recognized 71 U.S. products that had superior taste and were responsibly-produced.
The Surryano Ham is an American counterpart to the European Prosciutto and Serrano hams. They’re produced “only from rare Six-Spotted Berkshire hogs…100% pasture-raised under Certified Humane® conditions and absolutely free of antibiotics and added hormones,” according to the company.
Each ham is smoked for seven days and aged for more than 400 days. A 14 to 16 bone-in ham costs about $148.
