Macaroni Kid – Humane Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, you don’t actually have to give your turkey the presidential pardon to do something good. Consider serving a Certified Humane turkey at your family feast. Instead of living its entire life crammed into a too-small cage, genetically altered to grow faster than its legs can support, pumped with antibiotics and fed sub-standard feed, a Certified Humane turkey spends its life doing what turkeys are supposed to do–pecking in the grass for bugs and grass, flapping its wings in the breeze, living a healthy outdoor life so he doesn’t need drugs to keep him from getting sick and growing at the rate that nature intended.

These birds taste better than factory-farmed varieties, but you need to cook them at a lower heat setting, for a longer time to ensure they remain juicy. They have less fat than the caged birds–for obvious reasons. They are better for you and your family, the environment, small farming and our collective social conscience. Say, “Thanks,” for life and liberty by choosing the foods you eat at your Thanksgiving table in good conscience. They cost more and are harder to find, but your efforts and willingness to spend more to support good, humane food will pay off for everyone in the long run.

If you would like more information on Certified Humane turkey, beef, chicken, pork, lamb and goat meats, visit Certified Humane. I have added their link in our advetiser listings, as well. Here is a list of Certified Humane producers throughout the country. This is a list for local (New Jersey) pastured meat products. This link has organic and Certified Humane meat products available for shipping from New York and the tristate area.
