White Oak Pastures, a producer of premium grassfed ground beef in Early County, Ga., and McLeod Creamery at Oak Grove Meadows, a 560-acre farm in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, are the two newest producers to be certified to use Humane Farm Animal Care’s (HFAC) “Certified Humane Raised and Handled” label.

Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) announced today that Redwood Hill Farm, an award-winning producer of goat milk products in Sonoma County, Calif., is the first dairy goat producer in the U.S. qualified to use HFAC’s “Certified Humane Raised and Handled” label.

New standards for the humane raising of young dairy beef cattle used in veal production have been introduced by Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC), the non-profit organization that certifies the humane treatment of animals raised by meat, poultry, egg or dairy producers.

Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) endorses the formation of an Animal Compassion Foundation by Whole Foods Markets, a national grocery retailer as “further proof that humane treatment of farm animals is an emerging consumer issue.”

Jamison Farms, supplier of fresh lamb to many of the nation’s finest restaurants, and Big Sky Ranch, a producer of natural Certified Hereford beef, are the newest companies to be approved by Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) to use the “Certified Humane Raised and Handled” label.
